My Students

I teach 7th grade Science in a public school. Our main focus is on Life Science. We just finished up a "Hunger Games" activity to demonstrate how adaptations help birds survive. The students were the "birds" and then had to used different beaks to "eat". We had a blast!

My students are great, most really want to learn and love any type of interactive activity that we can do.

Most are not really thrilled to just take notes and read from the textbook (what 7th grader is?) so I try to make the class as hands on and interactive as possible. We do lots of lab activities, projects and games. The more fun it is, the more likely they will enjoy and remember the material!

My Project

We have really enjoyed using our student response system in class, as it gives every student the chance to answer all the questions asked without feeling singled out or put on the spot. They enjoy using our current system, but it has been discontinued and the software is no longer supported by the company. We need a new Promethean Activexpression student response system. As a teacher, it helps me give a clearer picture of how everyone is doing and if, as a whole class, we have mastered a topic and are ready to move on or if we need to spend a little more time on it.

The student response system we currently have is something we were able to purchase years ago when there were more funds available and higher budgets for all.

Unfortunately, do to budget cuts it is not something I would be able to ever afford to replace. We would love to keep this technology active and working in our classroom and we need your help to do that!
