My students love any type of interactive activity that we can do. Most are not really thrilled to just take notes & read from the textbook (what 7th grader is?) so I try to make the class as hands on & interactive as possible. We do lots of lab activities, projects & games. The more fun it is, the more likely they will enjoy learning & remember the material. The clickers I am trying to replace make learning more like a game, and they give everyone the opportunity to participate in a low stress way. Everyone answers every question & it helps me have a much clearer picture of how well each individual student is grasping the content. Even students who typically do not feel comfortable raising their hand are answering questions. As a teacher, the instant feedback I receive is invaluable. I can see immediately if we have mastered the concept and are ready to move on, or if we need to spend a little more time reviewing.
