My Students

In the great words of John Dewey, "If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow." In this fast paced world a Kindle Fire would allow my students to learn in new and exciting ways through interactive and hands-on experiences.

My enthusiastic first graders come to school everyday so excited to learn.

Unfortunately, with only 30 minutes once a week in our computer lab and no librarian at our school, my students miss out on the great opportunity to grow in their technology skills and to enhance their love for reading. I have English Language Learners, special needs students, as well as children who need to experience visual, kinesthetic, tactile and/or auditory learning. Technology plays a vital role in educating today's students. Please help my students excel in their learning with these Kindle Fires. A Kindle Fire would not only help to make learning come to life but also meet the individual needs of all the students in our class.

My Project

The Kindle Fire is amazing and would literally put millions of books, magazines, websites, apps, and songs in my students hands. With its many learning applications, my students will be able to practice their reading, writing, and math skills. This will provide the opportunity for children to have differentiation at all levels. They will see how technology can be used to learn in new and exciting ways. The text-to-speech capability will allow students with various academic abilities to read books online. My students will be able to practice reading on their independent level while I am working with small groups of students on their instructional level. Having students engaged on the Kindles on their independent reading level will push their fluency levels higher so in turn their comprehension will increase. Understanding what they read is crucial to the enjoyment of reading and becoming a good reader, which is the ultimate goal for my students.
