My Students

My first grade students would greatly benefit from a classroom rug. This rug will provide a gathering place for the class, and the colored squares will minimize conflict by designating a spot for each child.

My first graders attend a diverse public school.

I want to create a warm and welcome classroom community where they can grow as readers and learners. This rug will be the place where we will read together, gather for morning meeting, and learn about the world around us.

My Project

This rug is perfect for 3 reasons: 1. The squares designate a spot for each child, reducing conflict. 2. The blue border enables students to quickly transition to a circle formation (each student sits on a letter). 3. The carpet design reinforces knowledge of colors and letters. I do not have the funds to purchase a new rug for the class. Without this rug, the students will have to spend most of the day at their desks. A plain rug (without squares) leads to conflict, as students encroach on each others' space. This rug will help my students learn how to share their personal space with others.

Through your generous donation, my students will have a colorful, educational gathering place where we will conduct morning meetings, listen to stories, share important news, and build classroom community.
