Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am the teacher librarian (Library Media Specialist) in a K-3 high-needs public school. Our current enrollment is 400 children with 80% free lunch; 18% English Language Learners; 13% children with special needs.

We are a tangled mess -- but only when it comes to headphones! Our headphones are old, the earphone plastic is split and the cords are unwieldy. Everyone had a good giggle when I threw up my hands and sighed after trying to untangle two intertwined headphones this week.

Thirty new headphones will transform our computer and listening centers. Newer headphones are designed to protect young ears. The model requested will not tangle and the earpieces can be replaced when worn. Additionally, we will not waste precious learning time to practice the fine art of untangling cords and wires.

Thirty headphones may not seem like a big deal to some ... but this one small improvement in our library will help us to save time and ears.
