This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Science is a subject that requires hands-on activities to really understand the concepts and maximize learning. Unfortunately many times these activities are not possible due to the lack of resources.

This year I have a fourth and fifth grade combination class with 25 students.

My students are eager to learn and enjoy doing independent activities that allow them to develop as lifelong learners. Many of them don't have the resources at home to help them continue their learning. So I try to give them as many opportunities to use resources that build their independence and self-esteem in class.

My Project

I have requested various science CD-roms that provide illustrations and simulations of important science concepts. The human body game provides a model and a fun way for students to understand the various functions of the human body. I also requested solar system and habitats teaching resources and posters. These resources will be used as a way for students to demonstrate their understanding throughout the year.

Children are naturally inquisitive and have a desire to learn about science.

The only way to foster that curiosity is through hands-on activities. These activities allow students to maximize their learning.
