My Students

Have you ever been required to participate in something that was not interesting to you? Of course you have! I know some of my students feel that way about our Science center in my classroom. With your help I would like to change that and create a very exciting and enjoyable Science Center for them.

I have a class of twenty, low income, Pre-K students.

All of my students were chosen to be in my class based on their family income and being classified as academically high risk. Despite their family background, all of my students are very energetic and excited about learning. We are located in a high poverty area in Tennessee with very little parent or community support.

My Project

The Community Helpers at Work Photo Book Series and Community & Careers Theme Box will be used during our Community Helpers unit. The Plants & Flowers Pocket Chart Kit, Stick-On Pocket Chart, and Growing Things Theme Box will all be used in our Things That Grow unit. The Five Senses Instant Learning Center, Sort & Match Five Senses Game, and Five Senses Theme Box will be used during our Five Senses unit. The All Kinds of Families Puzzle Set and the family Theme Box will be used during our Families and Friends unit. The Four Seasons Floor Puzzles, Seasons & Weather Puzzle Set, and Seasons & Weather Theme Box will be used throughout the year as we introduce each Season as we enter them. The All About Me Theme Box will be used during our unit All About Me. The Scoop-A-Bug Sorting Kit will be used throughout the year in sorting activities. The teleidoscopes will be used in our unit on shadows and reflections.

This request will help my students experience Science in a way they may never again be able to experience it.

They need all the support and enrichment that they can possibly get. The best way for my students to learn about something is to experience it first hand with hands-on activities.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
