My Students

Do you remember the classic line, "I'm late, I'm late for a very important date!" Imagine not even knowing the concept of time. How do know if you are late or on time? Got clock?

I teach a group of awe inspiring and passionate third graders.

They are wonderful students who live in a district that has limited resources and come from homes that have even less. With even more budget cuts coming this year, we do not have the resources to provide many basic items. My students learn best by using a hands-on approach. Unfortunately, I cannot afford, nor does my district have, extra materials to accommodate their needs at this time.

My Project

Telling time is a real world essential skill that every student should know and be able to do. When working with elapsed time students cannot grasp this abstract concept using digital clocks. Students using analog (regular) clocks will be able to manipulate time with the minute and hour hands so they can visualize time. Having individual clocks helps my hands-on students. A teaching clock helps me guide them. The Hot Dot cards allow me to level their abilities to challenge or have them practice effectively.

If you choose my students you will be supporting them in learning and grasping the concept of time.

Students who cannot tell time cannot be ready for real world activities and events. It is an amazing feeling when their inner light flicks on and they can tell time. It is music to my ears, and I love hearing their happiness in learning this abstract skill.
