My students need 48 new books, such as "Amulet of Avantia," "Elephant Run," "Who Was Queen Elizabeth?" and "Who Was Martin Luther King?, "that they really want to read to keep them excited about reading.

My Students

Have you ever started reading a series of books and then found that the next one was missing? That happens to my students when books "disappear" from our classroom. I don't want them to miss what happens, so we need books that are missing from a series that I know my kids like to read.

My 7th grade kids live in rural Missouri and attend a public school.

They like to say that they live "in the middle of nowhere." It is not always possible for them to get the books that they want to read (the nearest Walmart is 30 miles away.) So, I try to keep as many books as possible for them to keep them excited about reading.

My Project

My students need books such as Amulet of Avantia, Elephant Run and Who Was Queen Elizabeth? and Who Was Martin Luther King? that they really want to read to keep them excited about reading. When my students receive these books, they will be able to read books that they want. They can continue series that they have started and also get a few other books that are the start of new series. In order to instill a lifelong love of learning, my students have to have books that they like and enjoy! I know that when my students read these books, it will help them love reading through adulthood.

What's so great about getting books for our classroom is that they will last for so many years.

Not only will this years students enjoy them and become lifetime readers, but my kids next year, and the year after, and the year after will also get the positive benefit of having these books in the classroom.
