This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students represent four different continents which makes them a very culturally diverse soccer team. They all share a passion for soccer even though they come from very different cultural backgrounds and experiences. Sadly, funding for sports is pretty much non-existent in our school.

Our students have a tremendous love of soccer.

Participating on a school PSAL team helps to motivate them to perform well in their classes in order to meet the academic requirements for the team. In addition, participating in team sports helps to relieve stress and add enjoyment to their school experience. They come from North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. Some are brand new to this country, others have been here since birth. What they share is the desire to play soccer and to have a strong team in their school.

My Project

Soccer equipment is not part of our school's budget. In order to build a strong team that can play competitively during the PSAL season, we need equipment to train them. Soccer balls and a bag to carry them in are both a bare necessity for our upcoming soccer season. Being able to provide goalie gloves to our player who chooses that position, will promote her success. In addition, ice packs are often a necessity during a game but are not provided to us by the school. With these supplies, our students will have productive practices, which will lead to successful games.

Our students will be able to build their soccer skills and play safely with these supplies.

Having the right equipment for soccer practices and games will ensure that our players can be properly trained and will ensure their safety on the field. Having new equipment that is high quality, helps to motivate and inspire players, as well.
