Last school year I started a video game design club using the PlayStation 3 and Little Big Planet 2. Through that I had 6 students create wonderful levels and races to use in the game. Now, I am having an overwhelming response from students who want to participate, and I need help to make it work.
My students love video games.
They talk about it constantly and eagerly love to share their ideas. After watching last year's small group of students work, I have been approached by a large number of them who have already come to me sharing some amazingly creative ideas of what they would like to build.
We are high poverty area where stoking their fires in this fashion could really push some of them to take their desires farther. I want my students to dream big, and the bigger I can make this group the more they can feed off of each other.
My Project
I am seeking a PlayStation Vita (a handheld gaming system) and a memory card to provide another venue for my students to create content in Little Big Planet. The handheld game console makes a lot of sense because now I do not have to track down a third television; they are hard to come by in my building. I had another project asking for these items, but since putting that project forward the system and memory cards have both dropped in price. This listing is actually $100 cheaper.
This little system will make a big impact on my group.
We would be able to take two more students to be part of our design group. The system's increased functionality also provides students to work with new tools like a touch screen and motion controls. I would love to see what my students can come up with if these new possibilities were open to them. Thank you for your consideration of these young minds.
