Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Our school has approximately 375 students. Most of the students at our school receive reduced or free lunch and our population is predominantly Black and Hispanic. At any given point during outdoor recess we may have about 140 children out in the school yard. The challenge is always "I am bored" or "I don't have anything to do." I am sure you will agree that recess time is a very important part of our children's day (other than the academics, of course). It gives them an opportunity to exercise and socialize. What I am looking for are materials to help support our children's' social interaction and movement. Our goal is to provide all of our students the opportunity to play with real equipment that is not damaged or outdated. Just some of the basics like jump ropes, hula hoops, jacks, yo yo, pogo sticks, simple board games like connect four. etc. The majority of our students are not afforded these experiences at home during their daily lives. We are in the business of educating the "Whole" child- and part of that is good solid socialization and sharing skills. Please help us meet our goal.
