With budget cuts and larger class sizes, it is difficult to provide students with hands-on activities that go beyond the book and provide real-world experiences. We also want to plant the seed of excitement towards science and math to girls and boys in second grade.
Our students are terrific!
They love to learn and science is a favorite subject of many students. We want to reach out and make it a favorite of others by exposing them to concepts in an age-appropriate way that really speaks their language. Our school is a located in a suburb/neighborhood setting. Our school is located in California. Our state continues to cut funding from education and is at the bottom of the list for student funding. Until our state makes education a priority, dedicated teachers will continue to reach out to generous donors to provide our children the quality education they deserve.
My Project
The "Geology Rocks" lessons we are requesting are fun-filled. Students learn to read stories hidden in stone as we meet a famous "rock group" (igneous, metamorphic, sedimentary), take a spin on the "rock cycle", "bone up" on fossils, and discover rocky resources we rely on every day.
We want to provide a deeper appreciation and understanding of our Earth.
Students deserve a stimulating, age appropriate, and engaging educational experience. The funding for this program is money well spent in the interest of furthering our future generations.
The Gardens at Heather Farms
