This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students have great stories to tell and create, but don't have the equipment to create them.
Our school is a Georgia public school serving about three hundred students.
It is a small school but we face many challenges. It is a Title I school with ninety percent of the students on free or reduced price lunch. Ninety percent of the students are African American.
My Project
My students face many challenges daily in their lives at home and school. Some of the challenges these students face at school are the lack of technology equipment, books, and a classroom pencil sharpener. The students are using a handheld pencil sharpener to sharpen their pencils. The students need a less messy way to sharpen their pencil. Also, they are in need of a vast of reading material for our classroom library. My students need an iPad so they can create movies, photos and videos with the new equipment and be able to compete with other students in the state during the Technology Fair.
This project is important to the students because they will be able to compete in the county Technology Fair.
Last year, my students won First, Second, and Third place in Multimedia. But, we weren't able to compete in other categories because we didn't have the resources like the Apple iPad. We would like to compete in other categories this year. Also, my students will be able to sharpen their pencil with the electric sharpener. Please help my students achieve their goal this school year.
