it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Hello! I've been a Kindergarten teacher for 15+ years.... In my classroom, we focus on building the foundation of successful citizens! To do this, my utmost desire is for every student to leave with the love of reading!
My 28 kindergarten students are amazing!
Many come from homes where they are the caretakers of the family. Our school contains the most homeless students then all the other schools in our district combined. Because of their lower socio- economic status, books and reading materials are not available in most homes.
In my inclusion classroom, we have special education students, English language learners and many different academic levels. My utmost desire is to make the love of reading available to all my students!
My Project
Kindergarten is a crucial time in which students can flourish. We differentiate for each students by need. These materials will provide small group activities that will benefit not only tiered groups but the entire classroom. This enrichment comes through written works in all genres and methods. Whether they are read to or in the process of reading themselves, the students will have the opportunity to find pleasure and knowledge from reading. My students will have the ability to hear, read or watch scripted reading to gain skills and to expand their academic abilities. For my students that are physically unable to hold books and turn the pages, they will learn through electronic means. For my students who are ELL, they can gain the same knowledge of vocabulary, sentence structure, and grammar from books on cd. My utmost hope is to provide quality education in Reading to all my students, so all of them love reading!!!
Children need a structured and organized area in which they feel safe to learn.
With these donations, I can provide a place within my classroom that contains many methods in which my students can read. These donations will provide my current students and students many more years to come, age appropriate reading materials to expand their reading abilities. All students will have the same opportunities as their peers to find enjoyment and knowledge through reading materials. A place to ❤️ reading!
