Mrs. Green from Browns Summit NC is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need exciting enrichment opportunities to challenge their bright minds. They need two Lego Robotics kits. Here come the robots!

ABRACADABRA! The English writer, Arthur C. Clarke once said, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." No better example of his sentiments exists than a child in the presence of a high-tech learning tool.
Many children at our high-poverty, Title I school must overcome obstacles daily--from the most basic of needs to developing habits of success (and everything in between).
Our teachers work diligently to motivate our learners to stretch their minds and help them reach their full potential. By fourth and fifth grade, the fruits of their labor are manifested in some students yearning for more than what the regular classroom can offer. While schools like ours are often fully funded for intervention efforts, they are often wildly underfunded for enrichment opportunities. Gifted minds also sit in OUR chairs. All they ask for is a fair shake at accessing materials that will develop their talents so they can prove it to the world.
iPads, and iPods, and robots--OH MY! These Lego EV3 robotic kits will begin our adventure as a competitive school in local robotics events. Students will learn how to build and program robots to carry out various tasks. Having two kits will allow for an ideal ratio of technology-to-student, as our current number of students per internet-connected device is below both our district and state average. We have plans to extend this program far and wide as more funding becomes available for additional kits, potentially reaching many more students than will originally participate.
Underachievement is a problem at our school.
For a multitude of reasons, some of our brightest children "power down" from learning entirely and it takes something major to "reboot" their central processing unit. The real-world learning experiences offered through the use of this incredible technology are potentially a HUGE part of a solution. Your donation will contribute to a magical learning experience for our future leaders. I can think of no better cause. Do you believe in magic?
