This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you have a favorite story you heard as a child? Mine was Cinderella. The handsome prince saves the day. Does it get any better? Now, imagine learning that children all over the world hear that story, or a version of it. What a great way to connect our little corner to the rest of the world.

I teach 3rd grade to 27 students in a Title I public school.

Although many of my students struggle academically and are reading below grade level, they have a desire to succeed. My hope is that some of these stories will engage my students and encourage them to read more.

My Project

As we study reading and genres of stories, our reading book does a fairly decent job, but it's just not the same as immersing yourself in the stories that are out there. The fables, the myths, the legends....you just can't beat them. Having such a varied collection of different stories would allow us to truly explore these genres. We would be able to put the dreaded reading book aside and work together reading these amazing stories!

Please help me give my students access to a variety of books that address the California Language Arts and Social Science standards.

My students are going to love reading these new books!
