My Students

"The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be ignited" .-Plutarch Help me ignite the fire in my students. There is nothing more amazing than seeing a child's excitement when they grasp a concept for the first time. Make center time a fire-igniting experience!

My students come from situations that most people read about or see in the news.

Many come from single parent or broken homes, and school is the only constant in their lives. Every day is a new situation, and I know that for some, it's a challenge just to get to school. My school is in a high poverty area, and I teach children who are bright, enthusiastic, and willing to learn.

My Project

Workshop time is when students get to work in collaborative groups on certain skills. These ready-made centers will help my students with phonics, phonemic awareness, number awareness, and counting skills. The ABC literacy center is a listening center that targets one letter per story book. These center activities make learning fun and teach the kids how to work together, an important life skill!
