Financial Literacy For 5th Graders!

My Students

Technology is here to stay and the students in my classroom are mesmerized by using it. When they have access to technology they are engaged and excited about their learning.

When it comes to technology my 21 students are full of enthusiasm.

It is as though I'm finally speaking a language they understand. However, most of them do not have access to technology at home because they come from lower socio-economic households. These students love using the technology when they are at school and have many skills with it. Many of my students participate in after school support and/or care due to various family circumstances. Despite this, my students come to school every day ready to learn and engage in new learning.

My Project

Having iPad minis will help support a financial literacy in my classroom. Students will use the iPad minis and access interactive math applications that will help them learn, review, and apply money skills. Students will alo use the iPad minis to locate math QR codes throughout the classroom and engage in problem-based activities. Using the QR codes is a way to get the students up and moving in the classroom and will keep them motivated to learn. In addition, the students will use various apps on these iPad minis that will teach them about money and financial literacy. Students today must learn the importance of financial literacy in our society. I believe that your kind donations to this project will help my 21st century learning students apply the every-day money skills necessary to become college and career ready. The iPads will increase student learning, engagement, motivation, creativity, and confidence as they navigate and engage with interactive math learning games, activities, and applications using the IPads.

These iPad minis and protective cases will help my students to understand financial literacy in an interactive and engaging way!

Giving my students another avenue of learning will be very beneficial to their understanding of financial literacy in the world today.
