Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember being a student and listening to great read-alouds by your teacher? My students love when I read stories to them, but this is a challenge because we do not have a place to meet and read together!
Mailboxes will also help my students stay organized and keep track of their work!
I have a wonderful, enthusiastic bunch of 4th grade students!
They love reading Goosebumps and Shel Silverstein, and enjoy learning new things. My students attend a public school and most are on free or reduced lunch. My students are so excited to have a place in the classroom for meeting and reading together and organizing their work!
My Project
As a new teacher, I want to make sure all my students receive the best education possible. I believe that reading is a fundamental part of life! I want to teach my students to love learning and enjoy reading. I believe an area rug will provide my students a place to relax and enjoy stories with their peers. I plan on reading novels to my students and this rug will provide a place to do this. It will bring comfort to my students, and they will see the enjoyment in reading!
Also as new teacher, I am learning (quickly!) how important organization is! With mailboxes, my students will be able to keep track of their homework and classwork in one spot! Having a mailbox for each students will help us maximize our time, and avoid passing out papers, which drains our learning time. Once a week students will check for mail in their mailboxes. "You've got mail!!" will be our new saying in the classroom.
These resources will allow our classroom more time for learning and keep everyone organized!
My project is so important because having areas in the classroom for my students to meet and read together is vital to creating a classroom community.
I have a classroom of students that love to read, and I want to encourage this and keep them reading! Having mailboxes will create organization in the classroom and allow for more learning time and less housekeeping time! Please help my students get a classroom built for success!
