Extra Practice for My Little Literacy Learners

My Students

My little literacy learners need materials to provide more practice and reinforcement to help develop important early literacy skills!

I am a reading teacher working with amazing students in a Title I school.

Some of my kindergarten students enter school without knowing how to recognize their name in print or know how to hold a pencil/crayon. They have not been exposed to language and/or language play like some of their peers. Providing these students with these materials will allow them to be able to engage in the extra practice and reinforcement they so desperately need.

My Project

I am requesting a classroom kit of hands-on phonological awareness materials along with some CVC Spelling game boards. With these materials, my students will be able to explore the sounds in spoken words. As they develop these skills, they will then be able to apply what they have learned to print (to read and spell words). These materials will also help to keep my little ones engaged and motivated to learn.

This project is important because you would be donating to help children develop into readers.

Research has shown that children with strong phonological skills become strong readers. Helping children develop these early literacy skills is important in the development of future readers.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
