Exploration of Art Through Visual Aides

My students need books, multimedia/multicultural DVDs and reproductions to expand their creative minds.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"That's a Mona Lisa!", says my students. As an art educator, the children of today yearn for technology to spark their interest. I would like to acquire multimedia/multicultural visual aides to teach my classes and expand their minds in a different way.

My students are thirsty sponges ready to absorb the knowledge of the art world.

They have a strong interest in learning more about various artists and the cultures they live in. I was overjoyed when one of my students approached me with a Vincent Van Gogh book after I taught a lesson on "The Starry Night". It gave me goose bumps! Many of my students are gifted in art and I want to make sure they receive a solid foundation for them as they progress through life. The school is located in an urban section of North Carolina, so numerous families are poverty stricken and can only afford the bare essentials for their children. Many students have not even stepped foot into a museum and what better way to introduce them to the art world but through media, the wave of the future! It is never too early to teach art history to children because the younger they are the easier it is for them to adapt to various techniques that the greatest artists have created.

My Project

These resources will change my students' lives for the better because art is all around us. It's vital for them to know the importance of art through the means of technology. I will be able to open my students eyes to alternative ways to learning about art history and multicultural ways of life other than a mundane lecture. Students at the elementary level seem to have shorter attention spans, so I don't want to disinterest them in the everyday routine of lectures and drawings on the white board.

My students need an outlet to express themselves creatively and visual aides through DVDs and reproductions will inspire them to explore art more.

I desire an interactive connection to art for my students. When my students are excited because they have grasped a new art technique, learned about an artist or have an appreciation for a culture other than their own it brings joy in my life as an educator. These 21st century resources will impact my students lives by inspiring them to appreciate art.
