My students need Science experiments, rock specimens and modeling dough to experiment with the layers of the earth and to discover different types of rocks.

My Students

Rocks all look the same! What do you mean there are different types of rocks? The earth has layers? I only see sea and land. Let's help students learn through experimentation.

I teach 2 classes of 24 students each.

We are in a rural part of North Carolina. Our school has a diverse culture - from Hispanic to African American to American Indian, as well as many other cultures. We have many students who have parents serving the country through the military.

My Project

We will be using the rock specimens to discover the different types of rocks, the characteristics of rocks and we will be learning about the layers of the earth by creating our very own model of the earth. My students will be more knowledgeable of the content because they have experimented with the samples rather than just looking at pictures of it.

Students learn better by experimenting and my students will be so excited if they get this opportunity.

We need to build scientific learners and by doing projects like this I believe that we are building life-long learners. Thank you for considering this project.
