My Students

Once in a great while, magic happens in a classroom...quiet, shy students open up before our eyes. Sensitive creative students demonstrate their gifts and talents through creative expression.

Early learning through the arts enables students to explore their creativity and their ability to express themselves as individuals.

Students can communicate their ideas, and their perspective of the world around them through art work. The arts are central to human learning and can enliven teaching and enable educators to reach every learner, as well as, motivate learning.

My Project

I am seeking to integrate the arts into learning in our classroom. With the supplies listed in our materials request we will be able to create and express ideas in a variety of ways without worry about limited resources. This past year I have discovered so many exciting, educational projects but my limited budget often restricts our ability to take part in these creative experiences. We would be thrilled to have these art materials available in classroom for daily use!

Through art activities, young children will develop abilities and skills that have application in many other areas of the curriculum.

Most importantly, however, children will also develop an appreciation for the art of other people and cultures, and the confidence to express their own thoughts and feelings through art. Far from creating individual prodigies, this integration of making and enjoying art in the early childhood classroom will result in the "all-sided development" of the children.
