I encourage my students to "Love the art in yourself....Not yourself in the art". I want them to value their uniqueness and creativity. My classes include, Drama I, Advanced Drama, Theater Production and Stagecraft. We are creative, expressive, and we love the arts.
The cast and crew of our upcoming show includes freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors.
They are young men and women, who love the arts. They are talented not only on the stage but off. They attend a full day of school, then rehearse for approximately three hours each day. During the two weeks prior to the performances, the rehearsal times will be close to six hours a day. This is in addition to their normal school day. My students are actors, singers, dancers, stage crew, stage managers, and technicians. But most importantly they are a team. They are a diverse group off of the stage. But once the lights come on and the curtain goes up, they are a family.
My Project
My students will use the materials purchased to create the set for their upcoming performance of Wonderland. Each individual item will be used for either set creation or for costume designs. The students work daily in the shop to build the set pieces. They are also responsible for styling the wigs, and applying makeup for the individual characters for the night of performances. We will use pipe, caulk, makeup, wigs, batteries, paint, and cardboard. The batteries will be used for the mics on the night of the performances. No item will go unused.
