My Students
Have you ever had a system so complex that you need to breakdown it parts to get an understanding? Corals in the Donor Reef tank are one of the most researched creatures in our Donor Reef. Natural selection and animal mitosis are two systems the students are analyzing.
The Accelere Program offers opportunities for students 17 years of age and older, who are in need of additional flexibility or interested in extended day study for an accelerated approach to earning credits.
Students participate in intensive face-to-face classroom instruction in order to work toward completion of high school graduation requirements. Both required courses and elective courses are offered.
My Project
From your generous gift of a natural selection experiment, microscope slide animal mitosis, microscope slide Ecology under the microscope, and pH checker the students can analyze and collect data being displayed inside the Donor Reef tank from the corals. So much learning has been administered from the first gift of a 30 gallon tank from Donors choose. From this initial gift the students have a partnership with our local zoo to work every thirteen days behind the exhibits. With continual growth students can apply to job shadow with the local zoo. Through these gifts I reinforce the students learning to make real life connections that they can take with them. The students come in a hour early to school just to sit by our Donor Reef tank. We have a school bulletin board displaying the activities inside the 30 gallon tank along with the class experience behind the exhibits posted. Please allow my students a better chance to understand ecology and animal mitosis.
When the students are preparing for their trip to work behind the exhibits the students need to be exposed to ecology before they meet with the professionals at the local zoo.
With this donation I will have the tools to instruct them so they will have experience to show others the students understanding of natural selection and animal mitosis other then a textbook definition. Conservation of life starts with a person understanding and appreciating life. Your donation can bridge this gap.
