Earthquake! Please Help Our Classroom Recover

My students need a storage cabinet to help organize our classroom supplies due to an earthquake destroying our school and displacing us to a trailer unit.

My Students

Can you imagine trying to locate what you need after an earthquake has destroyed your school, caused you to relocate to a trailer, and dumped your few remaining supplies in disarray?

My third grade students are inquisitive, excited to learn, and eager to come to school.

School is the one place where most of my students feel safe, can get a hot meal, and request things they need like coats and gloves. The current state of our classroom has made it difficult for my students to locate and use our remaining classroom supplies. Due to the recent earthquake, our new school campus is comprised of 31 trailer units without built in storage cabinets or bookcases.

My Project

With an appropriate storage unit, science and history supplies will be readily available for use in the classroom. Nothing teaches better than hands on activities - balance scales, rulers, thermometers, maps, puzzles. Students come to life when given the opportunity to actually engage in activities rather than watch them. The few supplies left after the earthquake have been buried in boxes and not readily available. The only option right now is to stack boxes against the trailer wall. A storage unit will bring my classroom back to life after a period of disarray.

This donation will not just change the education experience for one student.

A storage unit may seem like an inanimate tool. However, order in the classroom is essential to avoid distractions and provide an effective and safe learning environment.
