My students need science equipment to learn about the environment including soil test kits, pond water kits, as well as alternative energy supplies.

My Students

"Imagination is more important than knowledge" were the words of Albert Einstein, perhaps the most brilliant scientist to have ever lived. Imagination is most easily inspired in our children by allowing them to work their surroundings using knowledge and inquiry.

My students attend a public school in the Mississippi Delta.

At this school 81% of our students receive free or reduced lunch due to the widespread poverty over the area. Compared to their peers in the state only 13% passed the state science exam last year, placing them behind on an average of 2.5 years.

My Project

To overcome the gap in education I am requesting materials that will allow the students to be able to understand the challenges we will face in the future. As a result, I am requesting supplies such as alternative energy kits and soil nutrient measurement devices to allow the students insight and knowledge into pressing issues. The students will be able to use technology to understand environmental issues and then be able to think critically about solutions.

My students live in a rural area which holds some of the richest farming land in the USA.

As most stay in the Delta, they will be required to understand the environmental issues they will face and how to weigh their personal benefit against that of the greater society. Further, they will be at the forefront of innovation and able to adjust to the ever-changing economy.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
