My Students

Mathematicians in my classes go through dry erase markers like they are going out of style!! We use dry erase markers almost every day in my six periods of 7th and 8th grade math. We have exhausted our supply of markers and now we need your help!

My mathematicians are 7th and 8th graders in Gary, Indiana.

They are hard working students, but most come to our school with skill and knowledge deficits. Thus, differentiation is essential in my classroom. White boards are the perfect instructional resources that are invaluable for differentiating my lessons and for students practicing math.

My Project

My 7th and 8th grade mathematicians work very hard each day to reach their goals. The students and I both LOVE using white boards to practice the objective for the day. They enjoy it because it beats working with paper and pencil all day long. I love using white boards because it is an awesome instructional technique. I get to see the exact work of every kid, and specifically see how they are organizing their work and exactly what mistakes are being made. We use white boards in several different ways. One way is simply practicing problems from worksheets or their book. Another is what we call "Stump Your Neighbor." Students are paired up and write their own problem on the board, switch boards, and then solve their neighbors problem. Finally, we use them for review games and a few other classroom activities. We were fortunate to have a supply of dry erase markers throughout the year from our school, but that supply is unfortunately out. My students need a supply of dry erase markers to practice their math on white boards.
