My Students

My students LOVE music.

Although they are diverse in their cultural backgrounds, they appreciate diversity in music and in each other. Every one of the students brings something special to the "band family". We are actively involved in our community and school district. The students are eager to learn music and learn about each other. You will often see them in the practice rooms during intramural classes and after school. (It's very hard getting them to leave sometimes!) They practice at home when they can and take a lot of pride in their work.

My Project

These drumsticks are manufactured specifically for the "beginning band percussionist." Their labels are strategically printed on the stick to give students a guideline for hand and finger placement. They are a wider grip, so that no matter what hand size, students can grip easily. They are also made out of a material to encourage proper wrist usage for a rebound stroke.

As a music educator, I am a firm believer that all students belong in a music classroom.

I never turn a student away from joining band because of financial reasons, behavior, accommodations/modifications, or attitude. Students should not feel labeled or stigmatized by their mistakes. I work hard to create a positive classroom culture and these drumsticks will provide my percussionists a solid foundation for the fundamentals they will need for the rest of their music careers.
