Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine going to an inner city school, wanting to learn, and finding the school has little or no resources to help you. In Physics, demonstrations and labs are an integral part of the learning process. This projector and my laptop will allow students to watch online physics labs.

My students want to learn.

We get them into college even though many are not native English speakers. All our students come from the inner city and most will be the first generation to attend college in their families. The students have been given drive either by their parents or by us, but all are hungry to go to college and make a career for themselves.

My Project

Imagine a race car speeding around the track while lines of forces appear and are labeled. Next two cars are compared as one passes the other. This is an exciting application of Physics. Anyone searching for Physics Demonstrations on the Internet will find there are many to be found. Most are excellent learning tools and most require equipment that is well out of the price range of an inner city charter school. One mini projector added to one laptop computer and internet connection will open up a world of physics to my students

My students have never seen anything beyond their own scope of the inner city.

I would like to show them things they did not know were possible and then explain it as a learning process.
