My school is a new charter school dedicated to educating the "whole child." Along with a rigorous academic program, students are encouraged to explore their own interests through project based service learning projects. Community service is a primary focus. Our students dedicate a large number of hours of community service into a yearly service learning project. We are well into our first semester of operation, and our students are already developing creative and meaningful individual projects. Among our projects, we have a student who is developing a traveling mural to be displayed out in the community. The focus of his mural will be on acceptance of the changing diversity in our community. It is hoped that his mural will impact the community by giving them the unique perspective of a student in our community and how he wants acceptance of diversity within his community. I am asking for art supplies to assist my student in creating his mural.
