My students need microscopes, slides, science games and learning centers to help bring science to life in our classroom.

My Students

My students are full of questions about our environment. They want to know it all! They have never had the opportunity to use a microscope to explore their environment. This project will allow them to learn about important environmental science concepts while using hands-on science tools.

My students live in a small rural community.

They are a fun and energetic bunch of 22 second and third graders. They are ambitious, hands on learners that would benefit from this learning project. These activities will give them the hands on experiences about our environment that will enrich their learning.

My Project

Through this project my students will learn about many important science concepts; animals, habitats, plants, life cycles, weather, rocks and soil, and the importance all of this has on their lives. The science vocabulary cards will give them a visual of the new words they are using as they begin to talk like scientists. The learning centers will give them hands on practice with the new concepts they are learning. The interactive games will let them show off their new knowledge while reinforcing the new skills they are learning. I know their faces will light up when they get to use a microscope and view slides of plants for the first time.

This project will help provide a foundation for my students to love and respect our environment.

It is a project that will impact their lives today as well as into the future. I know that they will become just as passionate as I am about our earth and protecting our natural resources when they have the opportunity to learn about our environment in this hands-on unit.
