My Students

Did you hear what she said about her in her status? She posted on my friend's page that she didn't like me!I saw him hugged up in a picture with another girl on Facebook!I got a text saying you were talking about me! These are typical statement that I hear in school!

Students need to learn how bullying can be in many forms and how it can have long term effects on others.

I am a school counselor of a diverse public school. I service all students in the school. My students are very diverse not just in ethnicity but in talents. They range in age between 11-14 years old.

My Project

Bullying is on the rise, and it is hard for students to understand that what they do online is a form of bullying. It is also hard for them to understand that emotional bullying is just as bad as physical bullying. Since computers, cellphones, and laptops are easily accessible, it is easy for students to hide behind a computer and post negative information about others for the world to see. I plan to use the resources to create a bulletin board that has various bullying themes in the hallway. My students will learn how bullying affects other students their age through real life and fictional examples.

Donation to this project will make a difference to the entire school population in combating bullying in schools.

It will add a visual element of the lessons I teach about bullying. Students will learn the emotional impact bullying has on others and what exactly bullying is, they will be able to help reduce the instances of bullying by addressing their peers and their behavior.
