My Students
A book on a Nook! I am finally seeing a change in my students' attitudes towards reading and it's a great change. Students are fighting over our new Nook library! I've never seen them fight over a paperback book before!
My 4th and 5th grade classes are filled with diverse learners and many struggling readers.
Encouraging them to read books in a world of push buttons, interactivity, on/off switches and sound can be a challenging task. I think I've finally found a way!
My Project
I am requesting one more Nook and Nook Cover to increase our expanding electronic library. Through other funded Donors Choose projects, we are now increasing our electronic library and I am beginning to see the results of increased fluency and comprehension because they want to read more! I have a dream that each child will one day have their own Nook. Seeing my students want to read is just delightful and warming to the heart.
The Nooks will help cultivate the love of a "good book." With your help, students will develop a love and a desire for reading, which will prepare them for success in high school, college, and their future careers!
Help inspire my reluctant and struggling readers in the NOOK of time. This will make a huge impact on my students. I know they will be excited to come to school and look forward to reading books on the Nook. Help create lifelong lovers of reading.
