This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Instead of graphing only 1 system of equations in a class period, graphing calculators would help my students graph 1 system of equations and find its solution in under 5 minutes!

My school serves primarily Native American students who live in the city as well as on the surrounding reservations - some 30 or more miles away.

Specifically, I teach 9th and 10th graders - all of whom are capable but some of whom are lacking basic math skills. Graphing calculators really help these students overcome gaps in their computation in order to learn more complex, high school math.

My Project

I'm asking for 3 graphing calculators to help my students who can't afford to buy their own. Although graphing calculators have been around a while, they still cost upward of $100 each. With these calculators, students will be able to graph equations, perform complex mathematical tasks, and focus more on processes than on basic computations.

Honestly, graphing calculators are a necessity for effectively teaching high school math.

My students really need them. Every year that my students go without appropriate calculators, they fall further behind in math and getting lost in the cumbersome tasks of graphing by hand and being unable to type in more than one math operation at once. Please help all of my students start next school year with a graphing calculator!
