Do you remember sitting criss-cross applesauce on the carpet as an elementary school student? Would you rather sit on a hard tile floor or on a large, comfy area rug?
This area rug I have requested will be used every day by my first graders who come from a variety of backgrounds in a rural area in Pennsylvania.
First grade is such an important time of learning and growth - my students come eager and excited to learn every day! First graders are also very active, which means we are constantly moving throughout the day back and forth from sitting at our desks to sitting on the floor.
My Project
Having a classroom rug for students to sit criss-cross applesauce would be a tremendous blessing! We all gather together on the floor for morning meetings, writing lessons, reading time, math mini-lessons, and when we are utilizing the Smart Board.
Students also sit on the floor during centers for independent reading. Since we have tiled floors in our classrooms, having a carpet to sit on would help cushion the hard floors. Plus it will add warmth to our classroom and make our learning space more welcoming! The students would use this area rug many times throughout the day!
Thank you for helping our criss-cross applesauce time in first grade be more comfortable for learning!
This area rug will allow us all to sit together on the carpet multiple times throughout the day as we learn and grow!
