My Students

Our children live in an age of technology and can benefit greatly from incorporating it into their education. The ability to physically touch math will reach more learners than ever before. Math is not a passive subject, it's interactive and fun!

My students attend a school that is working very hard to improve every aspect of learning.

The community wants the best for these kids and the kids really do want the best for themselves. My school encourages technology use, but doesn't really have the resources to provide this kind of technology for every room. In the last few years, the community has rallied to improve the quality of education provided to its children. This enthusiasm has transferred to the kids, as they truly want to do well. They show, with their actions and words, each day that they want to be challenged and they want to succeed. They jump at the opportunity to take part in extra learning and thrive in an environment that gives them every opportunity for experiencing their surroundings. These students are very special and deserve to have every resource available to them so they can experience math in very unique and real way.

My Project

The Promethean Board will allow students to touch and interact with math, engaging them in authentic learning, in ways they haven't experienced before. We can learn about transformations through actually rotating items and seeing the angles at which they have rotational symmetry. We can learn about graphing by having students plot points and see lines move to create connections about the line and the formulas that create them. The Promethean board allows us to save our findings and revisit them, unlike a chalkboard. Our students live in an age of technology and the Promethean Board provides opportunities to see things move and animate and allows the student to be the animator during class. This increases engagement, which increases understanding.

This gift will not only benefit my current students, but years of students to come.

A Promethean Board will provide students the chance to interact with Math on a deeper level and engage them in ways they haven't experienced before.
