Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a creative group of teens interested in fashion, marketing, graphic design and entrepreneurship. My school serves a diverse and undeserved population from around the Bronx. The school's focus is visual arts and we offer a Career and Technical Education program in Graphic Design.
My students have enjoyed learning about marketing and production. Seeing an idea on the computer screen is very different then having it produced. They enjoy wearing their designs and logos on hoodies, bags and even applying them to their cell phone cases. I think this tool will open up opportunities for them and get them excited about learning the Adobe software when they see they can import their designs directly to the electronic cutter.

"My goal is to design and create logos for fashion merchandising. I would like to brand my clothing line and bring it to life. With the Cricut cutting machine, I am able to design logos on Illustrator and produce them on different materials to show people. This awesome cutting machine will influence my classmates to get involved with graphic design.
My senior class will have lots of fun bringing our designs to life. We can design logos and start to create them with different materials, such as denim, wood, felt, and vinyl. These projects will also influence younger classmates to get involved with graphic design. They’ll be inspired to design their own custom logos with Illustrator and bring them alive with using the electronic cutter.
We will be able to use the cutter as soon as it gets delivered! The students in the Work Based Learning class finish our internship presentations on May 20. At that point we can use the class time to experiment with this new piece of equipment creating designs and products that can be included in our portfolios as we move on to our individual career paths."
