Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The attention span of a second grader is SHORT! There is only so much listening or worksheet completion that is remembered. I am requesting supplies that will appeal to them and help keep their attention longer in order for them to retain more key information and increase success now and in the future

We are a very low income K-5 school in a small town.

Our classes are large and resources are limited. We are classified as a very low-income school and try be as resourceful and creative as we can. We have the basic supplies but need help for the special extras that really help students excel. Our classes are expanding this year as we absorb students from a school that closed, increasing our need for supplies more than ever.

My Project

The supplies I am requesting will help my students stay interested longer, increasing the time they are working on developing reading skills. We are doing more informational reading than ever now with the Common Core and linking more science reading with our reading curriculum. The Hot Dot supplies will let students learn while they think they're playing. The graphic organizer display will be used during reading groups to help students learn how to organize new information for better retention. The phonic and word building games will be fantastic for keeping them involved and getting them excited about reading centers and self-exploration for more learning! There are so many ways we can implement these supplies in our classroom!

Donations to our classroom will help increase understanding of important reading and science concepts.

They will purchase supplies that will be used for years to come and help build a love of reading for children that might not have any interest at this time. Anything that gives a student a chance to work hands on and explore a concept will have a huge impact on their learning! Thank you!
