My Students

Do you remember what it was like to engage in mathematics learning in the sixth grade. It was often difficult, repetitious and boring and you rarely ever understood why it was important regarding your success as a student. Out classroom is seeking to make mathematics a living entity.

The students that I serve have been underprivileged and often find mathematics boring due to the fact they don't understand its importance or its usefulness.

They also fail to understand how mathematics is applicable to the life they plan to live. They attend a charter school they seeks to prepare them for college successfully. The students that I serve are bright, very creative and open to new things if introduced correctly.

My Project

I am currently asking for a document camera for my classroom. The resources that I am currently asking for would allow me as a teacher to cover more material. The more material that students are able to go over the better their understanding is solidified. The resources would allow me to also help students who are struggling with mathematics in a more proficient way without me having my back to the board and writing material.

This project will allow my students to see the world in a different way, allowing me to use technology to present mathematics to them and show them how mathematics literally changes the world around them.

It will allow us to view newspaper articles as a group and see how mathematics transforms the world economically, and socially.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
