Cool Chromebooks

My students need 2 ACER Chromebooks to continue learning in a flipped classroom environment. They will learn in stations and computer programming via Google First.

This project expired on February 19, 2016.

My Students

My students race in to their seats and grab their clipboards - ready to start exploring! My student once said, "Science is like a just born baby, first starts with noting until it keeps learning more and more, leading to facts." They're both nervous and anxious for the unknown - they crave it!

They pace to the Science classroom in urgency to line up first on a Monday morning.

They are respectful to one another, even when they disagree with each other, claiming, "I disagree respectfully but..." They are curious. They not only challenge themselves, but also each other! They respond well to challenge. They will be eager to know that they will be using the ACER Chromebooks to create and publish stories online using Google's new program: Google First. This program allows students to not only publish his/her work but also learn computer programming skills at the same time!

My Project

The scientists in my classroom, if granted the materials, will be able to immerse themselves completely in a truly flipped classroom. This means that students go home, read/watch/write about a specific topic. Then, they come to class prepared knowing the material and immediately exploring the material through station learning. Station learning caters, if supplied with technology, to visual, auditory and kinesthetic learners. Students in this class are also encouraged to complete an enrichment program of which I have chosen Google: Google First's computer animation story telling option. Students will not only tell their personal narratives but learn more about themselves as they apply computer science techniques to make their stories come alive.

The donations will create an increased desire to research the unknown, achieve NGSS Standards and a desired image of the flipped classroom.

Students will be asked to constantly question resources. It is not about placing a laptop in front of a student, but also, having them understand the purpose of the laptop and question its resources. This project helps support STEM learning, computer science, literacy and mathematics.
