My students need four HP Chrombooks (two Coral and two Aqua) and one Surface Tablet in order to gain technology skills needed for 21st century learning.

My Students

I educate 20 amazing kindergarten students. My classroom is the first school experience many of my students have. My students are hands-on learners. My students enjoy building and creating with their hands as a way to make their learning more meaningful.

My students are the best you will find anywhere.

Hands Down! But they also come to school with many challenges. Our school is a Title 1 school with 81% of the student body receiving free or reduced lunch. We are also an inclusion model school, meaning our 14% special education students and our 25% bilingual students are mainstreamed into our classrooms. This year we were designated as an "Intervention School" because of the extreme needs our students have. Many times the challenges and complications of our students home lives greatly impact our classroom learning environment. We are a public school in Washington State.

My Project

With computers and technology skills becoming the norm in our lives, it is imperative that my students have access to these materials. Our classroom currently has two computers and only one computer is allowed for student use. These computers and tablet will allow my students the opportunity to create and engage with technology in meaningful ways. One of the new common core standards requires students to publish a writing piece and these computers will not only make that a reality, but also encourage students to publish more writing pieces.

The majority of my students don't have access to technology at home and thus NEED opportunities at school to gain technology skills.

As we all know technology isn't something that is fading away. It is only becoming a stronger force in our lives and in order for my students to become 21st century learners they need to gain technology skills at school.
