My Students

Whatever it takes. This is one of our "key phrases" that we use within our school. I want to do whatever it takes to help my students! One HUGE component to success in school is family involvement.

My students are from Hartford, CT.

The school I work in primarily services students who are mostly from low income areas of the city. To add to the challenges that most students face, my students all have special needs which range from learning disabilities to behavior disorders to autism.

My Project

I am requesting a communication "cart" to be used in our brand new resource room next year. We are building the space from the ground up. In thinking about the space, it's important to us that we have a place that both promotes and encourages family involvement and communication. With a huge caseload, it's simply not possible to call home each day; however, if each student has an easily accessible place to put their folder, we can communicate to families easily and often. Students will receive mini progress reports in their "mailboxes" and will have a place to store tests, quizzes, etc. that need to be taken in the resource room. We currently do not have any furniture, so I am hoping that this will be our very first piece!

We would love to start fresh next year with a brand new place for special needs students to call "home".

My students come to school every day, no matter the challenges that they might face. Please help us to get some quality materials that will promote great family relationships! Thanks so very much!
