Collaboration is a skill that students need not only to build friendships and problems solve together but also a skill needed for the future. Business like Goggle are creating collaborative work spaces to foster innovation. To build collaboration and innovation, we are bringing tables to our class.
My students are from a small community that is focused on high quality education.
My class is learning to become life long readers, state their opinions with reasons, respect others opinions, collaborate and problem solve with others to build critical thinking and innovative skills.
My Project
My students need chair pockets, table caddies and a mobile storage space to organize important daily educational resources and to eliminate cluttered desks. To help create more space in our classroom and most importantly build collaboration skills that are needed for the future, our classroom is getting rid of desks and bringing in tables! In order for tables to be the most effective option in our classroom, we are in need of some storage solutions to keep students and their belongings organized.
On a daily basis I hear:
-"I can't find my math workbook!"
-"Where did my pencil go?"
-"I want to work with my friend on this project but where should we work?"
We are making the switch to tables and getting rid of desks to help eliminate many of these issues and build innovative thinkers.
