This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"He's touching me! She's not sitting in her spot." These are the constant cries I hear from my kindergarteners as we gather to the front of the room for a lesson. We need a classroom rug to give every student their own comfortable spot to learn.

My students are a group of kindergarteners that attend a Title I school in a Texas urban school district.

They are made up from a diverse set of backgrounds and include English language learners, special education students, and those receiving free or reduced lunches. Most importantly my students love coming to school, learning, and being in kindergarten.

My Project

We are requesting a rug for our classroom to use during our story time, calendar, and whole group lessons. My students need a cozy carpet to invite them to learn. We spend most of our day on the floor and my students would love to have a comfy space of their own while they take on the learning challenges of kindergarten.

Having this classroom rug will allow my students to stay focused on their learning instead of worrying about where and what they are sitting on.

Minimizing distractions and increasing their focus is optimal for helping kindergarteners learn and grow.
