Chromebooks in the Classroom!

My students need Chromebooks and protective cases to advance their knowledge of technology and learn different research skills through the use of technology.

My Students

I teach a 4th grade and 5th grade multi-age classroom at an urban school district in Washington. Many students at our school come from low socio-economic backgrounds and need all of the resources they can get at school!

My students learn best when they are fully engaged and what better way than the use of technology.

With high motivation and engagement in the use of the Chromebooks, my students will be excited to publish their writing and strengthen their research skills .

My Project

The Chromebooks will be used on a daily basis for a variety of subjects and purposes. In the intermediate elementary grades, students are expected to be able to type out their writing and be fluent in their keyboarding skills. Without enough computers in the classroom and a limited time in the school computer lab, it is difficult to make sure each student gets the time they need to spend gaining these skills. Not only will the Chromebooks be used for typing out their writing, research, creating presentations, and blogging, but they will also be learning the foundational skill of navigating through the web. Technology in the classroom is all the more important for our school district at this time, because of the new standardized test based on the Common Core State Standards, called Smarter Balance will be implemented this year. This test is taken on the computer and students will be expected to have these computer skills.

Thank you for reading about this very important project to help my students have more exposure to technology and use the Chromebooks in a variety of ways.
