This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have never had a 3rd grade class that was so willing to use technology and learn to the best of their ability. This group embraces anything I teach using all kinds of programs and software. Using these Chromebooks in class would only push them to learn and educate themselves even more in school.

My 3rd graders are the most motivated group of kids you will ever meet.

If they don't understand something taught in class, they keep going until they get it. They ask questions to figure it out, and are always out to help others around them understand what was taught as well. Our school is a Title I school that has been able to provide many programs for the students, but we lack the money to buy any kind of new technology at the moment.

My Project

We would love these Chromebooks to help learning with technology increase in the classroom. We have a few times a week where we are able to go to the computer lab in the school, but this would allow us to have access to the Internet and to other programs for learning, straight from their desks. I plan to use Google Docs, many different typing websites (since we start teaching typing in 3rd grade), and the students will do many kinds of writing assignments in the three genres expected: narrative, informative, and opinion.

This will make a difference in the continued love for learning that my students show when they are in the computer lab, practicing their math, typing, and writing skills.

My students will be able to show me what they have learned this year through the different assessments that they are required to take on the computer. They will be able to do well with these assessments because of the extra practice they have had in the classroom with the Chromebooks.
