My Students

Help! My students need materials to investigate rocks and minerals.

We are a small, rural school with 51% of the students receiving free/reduced lunches.

We have very little lab supplies and resources. They love doing hands-on investigations and exploring science. These materials will allow them to conduct their own research with the rock cycle.

My Project

My students will be fascinated as they learn about how igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks form. Working in small groups, students will use rock and mineral samples to learn how rocks and minerals differ and then classify the samples. They will be able to conduct eight activities with these materials.

Students will then be given "mystery rocks" which will challenge their classification skills.

Tests will be conducted to identify the "mystery rocks." Please help my students to become rock hounds.
