My students need a calendar Math Center that can be used for daily Math lessons and a Guess Who Game that can be used for an inference center.

My Students

Calendar Math is an effective way to teach students fundamentals daily.

My students live in a military city so they are very diverse when it comes to educational, financial, and ethnic backgrounds.

Although the students have different backgrounds they still have some of the same common interests: technology, sports, toys, games, and television. While some of my students are more fortunate to be exposed to the latest technology and current events in their home, I still have some students that will only have access to these items through school.

My Project

Research shows that students learn many things through repetition such as numbers, days, months, time, recognizing coins, and etc. Calendar Math provides this type of repetition to students through the use of calendar related activities. By requesting a Calendar Math Center, I can incorporate this type of repetition to my students in an organized way. I am also requesting a Guess Who game for my students. Guess Who can reinforce processing and inference skills , and also build questioning skills within my ESOL learners.

This project is important to me because I would like to incorporate learning Math fundamentals on a daily routine basis with this type of center.

Also I would like for my students to learn processing and inference skills through such enjoyable games as Guess Who.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
